“You should just give up now, I’m smoking you.”
“Hah! You wish. It’s gonna be a roast for you if you don’t stop.”
Loud groans were heard from Nes and Rocky’s companions, seated not too far from them. A bonfire on the island’s beach was a wonderful way to spend a warm summer evening, but their teammates had not signed up for their incessant back-and-forth of puns.
“You’re just jealous of how scorching my puns are,” said Rocky proudly, puffing out his chest slightly. Nes gave his abdomen a playful shove, pushing him down onto the wrinkled towel they’d spread out.
“I was never jealous, babe,” Nes said then, flipping her hair over her shoulder. “Why would I be, when your jokes are lukewarm at best?”
Normally such a remark might’ve stung a little bit, but this was Nes. Rocky knew that whenever she pushed his buttons, she was just playing, teasing. She was good at that. He laughed and picked up one of the sticks that hadn’t caught fire yet, and pointed it at her accusingly.
“Careful what you say, or this is gonna get a little heated,” he warned, smirking.
“Ooh, mercy,” Nes swooned sarcastically. “Whatever shall I do? You can’t hold a candle to me.”
“I swear to Arceus, if both of you don’t shut up right now—”
Sambas, visiting from Sinnoh, held his hands over his ears, clenching his jaw. Amica sat near him, holding in a snicker.
“Or what, Sambas?” Nes inquired, raising an eyebrow. She settled into a spot next to Rocky, smoothing out the sarong over her bikini bottoms. “Don’t burn yourself up there.”
“Yeah,” added Rocky, slinging an arm around Nes’ shoulders as she sat down. “Simmer down, buddy.”
The roserade groaned and put his hands over his face.
When Six was told she was going to see “satisfactory results” from the Think Tank, she didn’t quite expect the near-human result in front of her. She’d asked for a suitable android body for her Securitron friend, but this— this was something else. Victor, now looking very much like a flesh and blood human, stood in the Sink’s doorway, fidgeting with his bandana.
“Holy shit,” said Six. “My compliments to Dr. Dala.”
“Is that the lady ‘bot in there?” asked Victor, finally finding a satisfactory placement for his bandana. He smoothed it out and let his hands fall to his sides.
“Yeah, that’s her.”
“She was… really int’a lookin’ at all the details. Bits n’ pieces an’ all that.” Victor glanced uncomfortably over his shoulder.
Six bit her lip to keep herself from laughing. She moved to the fridge next to the bio station to retrieve some water. “So you got the Dala treatment in the middle of all that, did you?”
He nodded. “Though she kept talkin’ about someone she called ‘er ‘Teddy bear.’ No idea what that meant.”
She almost spat the water out of her mouth. “Oh! Uh. Don’t pay any attention to that. She’s a great doctor and all, but 200 years makes a couple people loopy, y’know?”
Victor eyed her curiously, then smirked. “All right, consider it dropped.”
“Don’t you give me that look.”
“What look?”
Six sighed. “Come on, the room’s back through here.”
Victor laughed. “Not even ten minutes with this new getup, and already you’re plannin’ somethin’ for me?”
The courier raised an eyebrow. “Are you telling me you don’t want to experience all the new sensations that come with having skin?”
“Well… no, that’s not what I meant—”
Six tugged on the front of his bandana, bringing his face closer to hers. “Then let’s see just how well the doc did, huh?”
((I had to think about this one for a second!))
“So they’re really all gone?”
“Mhm. You don’t remember them at the dam?”
Yes Man scanned the expanse of Red Rock before letting out a conclusive, “Huh!”
“What?” Six gave him a strange look, lifting her goggles from her eyes to rest on the fabric of her bandana.
“I just think it’s kind of nice here, now that they’re not crawling all over the place! You don’t see rocks that red anywhere else!” He gesticulated with his claws, making a few sweeping motions at the high canyon walls.
“They’re out of our hair now, but at least they did some good in the end. Not that it makes up for the other shit they got away with, but hey.” Six crossed her arms and fell silent for a few moments. “I don’t think you ever really told me why you hated them so much. I mean, I didn’t like ‘em either - it’s hard to be sympathetic to someone who helped put you in the ground - but… what’s your story with them? Was it just another bit with Benny?”
Yes Man picked up a small chip of dark red stone from the ground in front of him, then turned it over a few times to examine it. “Mostly! He was pretty influential on who I liked or didn’t like! But when Benny had all of his plans to attack you and the other couriers, he asked the Great Khans to help him out. They weren’t very nice to me, though.”
“Yeah, can’t imagine they would be. What did they do to you?”
Yes Man paused, recalling the sharp tingling sensation the plasma pistol had left in his hull. The shot made Benny very angry at the time, but not for Yes Man’s personal safety. He didn’t want them to damage his “key to the plan,” and that was all. Not that the single shot had damaged anything major— all it left was a scorch mark and a slightly melted top layer of titanium. He did distinctly remember the sneers and jokes about “dumb robots” that the two had made, however, and his grip on the stone tightened.
“Don’t worry about it!” Yes Man finally said. “It’s not important. We should get to looking for any of those extra supplies you were talking about! No sense in letting them go to waste!”
“Yeah, s’pose so. Let’s get to it, buddy.” Six affectionately patted his arm and headed up the hill to the longhouse.
Yes Man wheeled after her, but not before he took the red chip in his hand and crushed it into a fine powder.
“I wish you wouldn’t do that.”
Nan looked up from her hands, which were cupped around her lighter. She raised an eyebrow at Archie, frowning slightly. “What, stop smokin’?”
“Yeah,” said Archie. “I didn’t even know you did until the last time I stopped by.”
“Tha’s cos I’m good at keepin’ it to myself,” Nan chuckled, successfully lighting the cigarette and setting her lighter on the nightstand. “Don’t worry about it, Archie. It’s just a little pleasure in life.”
“It’s gonna kill you one day,” Archie said stubbornly, crossing his arms and leaning against the headboard.
“Well it’s no’ killin’ me now, is it?” asked Nan, taking a seat on the edge of the bed. She hadn’t bothered getting dressed, which made it a bit difficult for Archie to focus when she turned to face him to talk more. “I don’t tell you tae quit with the dangerous treasure huntin’ with Jhiro, do I?”
“That’s different,” Archie protested. “We try to find bits of history that everybody’s overlooked. We’re not sucking down chemicals that might give us a heart attack.”
Nan’s frown deepened. “Complainin’ abou’ me smokin’ won’t do any good, yanno. It’s no’ like you can get hurt by it, anyway.”
Archie sighed, aggravated. “I know that. This isn’t about my health, Nan, it’s about yours.”
“Well yer no’ my boyfriend or livin’ with me, so what d’you really care? It’s no’ like you have tae deal with it every day.”
He fixed her with an icy glare for a few moments, then swung his legs over the side of the bed. “Fine.”
Nan seemed startled with his sudden movement, and her frown disappeared. “Archie?”
“I won’t tell you to stop, but I don’t want to watch it. So I’ll see you tomorrow,” he said coldly, snatching his clothes from the chair near the door. He heard Nan rise from the bed as he slipped his arms through the sleeves of his dark red hoodie, but didn’t turn around.
“What’s yer problem? You can’t just let me have a little thing tae calm down?”
“I wouldn’t have a problem with it if you weren’t killing yourself with it,” Archie hissed. “No, I’m not your boyfriend, no I don’t live with you, but I can sure give a damn about my friends slowly screwing up their lungs until they have to talk out of a fucking hole in their neck.”
Nan glanced at the cigarette in her hand. “Priya never said anything.”
“That’s because she’s a little bit more polite. I’ve been talking to Saria,” said Archie. “She’s not. But she also tells things people what they need to hear, instead of lying to their faces about it.”
Nan’s concerned frown was now a very irritated glare. “Oh, yeah, I’ll make sure tae take health an’ survival advice from the crippled war hero an’ last man o’ his kind. Ye sure did a bang-up job wi’ that.”
Archie turned to glance over his shoulder, his mouth a tight line.
“…oh no, Archie, I didnae mean—”
“Whatever.”
He wrenched the door open and left, slamming it angrily behind him.
time for some more writing! this is a bit sadder than what I usually put out, and ouch, my feels. I might make an optional, sort of non-“canon” ending that’s happier later, but for now? enjoy. or cry, whichever you want.
Six and Yes Man have a little talk, and it doesn’t end the way he wishes it would.
SHIT THIS GOT REALLY LONG. I like a slow build up I guess?? whatever I’m happy with it.
um.
yeah don’t read it if you don’t want to encounter anything involving robot lovin’. YEP.
more from Six the courier. in this, Tay’s lone wanderer makes a cameo and gets freaked the hell out by poisonous mongrels! Six is not as easily creeped, however, and even finds the little abominations cute. She finds that having the Animal Friend perk is a bit hard to explain, so she just rolls with it.

this kind of didn’t turn out how I originally saw it in my head, but I sort of like it anyway?? oh god. help me what’s happening.
Six has some mental conflict after ousting the ruler of the Strip, and the consequences thereof.

With all of these good fanfics I’ve been reading about a certain someone, I thought I could show you guys a little something!
These are all of the headers I did for Di’s fanfic “Wartime”, which is a VERRRRRRY GOOD fanfic. I had a lot of fun drawing all these out. It was like….illustrating for a novel. WHICH WAS FUN. :D
If you haven’t read it yet, I SUGGEST THAT YOU CLICK THE LINK THAT I HAVE PROVIDED.
I’m still completely baffled at how much love this fic got, though it did feel pretty rewarding considering I poured my heart into it! I hope the fanfics I write in the future are as good as this one, and hopefully my dearest Bec will help me by illustrating lovely headers once again. ♥
I started writing some more of these two the other day in class, and I finished it up tonight. oh lawdy this was so fun to do. I adore Plasma and Roger ♥♥ my babies.
in this little bit, our mischievous pair decides to head up to the lab, see what’s on the slab, and get a little help from their friend Vodka.
here’s the first chapter of what’s probably going to be quite a big Zelda-verse story, starring everyone’s favorite cowardly captain, Linebeck! I’m excited to finally start this project, and I hope ya’ll enjoy it.
-
so here’s a little something I put together after talking with Bec tonight about the future of Linebeck and his pet/friend, Cameo. shimmerflies are very long-lived, so it’s likely she would be alive - but rather old - during the events of Spirit Tracks. this then led to the VERY sad image of her spending most of her time near Linebeck’s gravestone, and this idea surfaced
it’s a lot headcaon-y and mostly for the two of us but hey! enjoy anyway

so sometimes I write stupid shippy bullshit. this is one of those times. a little while back I put up a post that said to give a pairing, and I’d write a one-sentence fic for them. since I love to write and one sentence could never cut it, I decided to expand on one of the pairs given to me by Bec. so here’s the little… thing I managed to write last night. it’s unedited and not very good but it was fun to write. writing Roger’s accent is a little more difficult than I thought it would be, too!
I hope the formatting doesn’t shit itself. enjoy??
